Poor Clares – Drumshanbo

Easter morning from the roof top

The Poor Clares in Drumshanbo are celebrating their 150th Anniversary.  If you are ever in Leitrim for Easter I can’t make a better recommendation than to go to the dawn mass at The Poor Clares in Drumshanbo.  It really is a very special way to start Easter.  It just makes your heart sing to be outdoors as the sun rises and the birds begin to sing with countless others.  Today Bishop Francis was there to celebrate mass with Fr. Peter to add to the importance of the 150th celebrations.  I returned home as the sun continued to rise and the fog drifted across the lakes.  We are in the process of giving the chimney’s a makeover and so have easy access to the roof so Pat and I headed up there for breakfast on the scaffolding around the chimneys a continuation of the lovely morning as the fog cleared and the sun came through, the 360 degree view is stunning.  We even heard the cuckoo.  And all that before 7.30 in the morning!!!
