The Old Rectory Country House

The Old Rectory Country House Leitrim is a beautifully restored listed Georgian House dating back to 1827; nestled among mature trees, some of which are as old as the house and looking out over Fenagh Lake.   The Old Rectory Country House has been home to the Curran family for three generations and we have welcomed visitors from far and wide for over 40 years.  As third-generation custodians of this beautifully restored house, we enjoy sharing our home and its history with our guests.  With a variety of accommodation options for your stay from luxury rooms in The Old Rectory Country House – to 4* self-catering apartments in the courtyard of the house. We also have a small rustic one-bedroom cottage in the courtyard.

The Old Rectory Country House is an exclusive wedding and event venue. A stunning venue for your perfect wedding day or wide variety of weekend retreats such as – yoga retreats, murder mystery quilting retreats, themed evenings,  corporate team building event, or family gathering.

As an exclusive wedding venue, we host only a small number of weddings at The Old Rectory Country House each year.  It is a stunning venue for your intimate wedding with an alternative feel. The Marquee is a unique place for your reception looking out over Fenagh Lake with floor to ceiling glass windows, and wooden floors.  An opportunity to decorate and celebrate your magical day in a way that is all your own.  You can have your ceremony either in a local church or have a humanist ceremony on the grounds of The Old Rectory Country House.

Fenagh is surrounded by heritage and most of the village is on heritage ground.  We are holders of the key for Fenagh Abbey which was originally built in the 6th century.  The Court Yard buildings of The Old Rectory in Leitrim have been given a new lease of life and are fully restored.

These converted buildings are now beautiful self-catering apartments.  Look at our Self Catering page for more details. Enjoy our outdoor hot tub with views of the Abbey and Lake.

I am writing to thank you ,Patrick and Aoife  for your kindness to us over the weekend.

We all enjoyed our stay in The Rectory and Fiona’s apartment was spacious and ideal for a small family gathering on Sunday evening.

We appreciated our lovely breakfasts and a beautiful lunch on Sunday.

I was very relieved Paula’s wedding went ahead in these difficult times.

Very best wishes to you and your family.
I hope the pain in your hip and  knee improves

Just wanted to say how much we both enjoyed our stay at the Coach House. You have a beautiful setting; we are both thoroughly relaxed; recharged after our stay. Thanks for the extra session in the hot tub; it was perfect timing as the sun was out at the same time. We are missing Pip; Candy already; they seemed to have set up camp outside the door; we were getting used to seeing Pips snout appearing round the door! Thanks to Aoife too.

Just to say THANK YOU to Julie and Pat for Charlie's Christening yesterday. It was all great, the room set up and the food was fantastic. Definitely recommend you for hosting a function!

Everything about this stay was perfect! We are a young couple that were looking for a few days away from the city and The Old Rectory was perfect! The cottage was so charming and sweet, there were cupcakes and all the necessities for making a cup of tea when we arrived. Patrick lit us a lovely fire and showed us the grounds. There are 2 canoes you can avail of and head out on the beautiful lake Which was so much fun and also a hot tub you can use you just need to book in. We booked it very last minute and there was never a problem. Julie and Patrick’s family were so lovely and made us feel so welcome. It was very private but when you bumped into someone on the grounds there was always a smile. Special mention to the adorable animals on the grounds that I wanted to take home with me. I can’t wait to go back. Jenny Airbnb

We really enjoyed the quilting weekend in your beautiful home, you all work very hard to make it memorable. You and your family always make us feel so welcome and at home.  We enjoyed meeting Roisin, she is an excellent teacher as indeed is Erin. Nice to meet up again with all the returned participants and also meeting new ones. Looking forward to next year already!

Just back after our weekend with you at The Old Rectory. On behalf of our group from Killala quilters I would like to thank you for a wonderful weekend.  The food, accommodation, and tuition were wonderful within the beautiful environs of The Old Rectory.  It was particularly enjoyable and appreciated because of being in the time of the Pandemic.  We felt very safe and the hospitality afforded to us was second to none.

"We've just had the most fantastic weekend in The Old Rectory with Julie and Patrick. Our bedroom was beautiful, spotless and had stunning views of the lake. The food was delicious and we laughed so much at the murder mystery, it was hilarious and really well organised. Canoes and life jackets were available without charge and the lake is stunning to explore. There is an outdoor hot tub also which we didn't avail of but others did. There is a lovely country pub a few minutes walk away. Overall.. this place is a gem! Whether it's a special occasion or just a weekend escape. It would be the most beautiful intimate wedding location for anyone looking for something different and special. We will certainly be back" Linda & Liam

“With a full harvest moon as I got out of my car and walked up the steps to the 1827 Georgian mansion each of us had previously received a description of the role we would play and an outline describing our fellow cast members. We had been encouraged to come in costume and it was stunning to see, we were truly transported to the 1920’s. Once the ‘murder’ was committed we all became a community of detectives searching out and seeking other people whom we thought might lead us to whoever had committed this dastardly crime!!! None of us knew ‘who-dun-it’ until the very end and not before we had been wined and dined and led around the crime scene in a fury of accusations and denials by all.” Yvonne Parson

Organised a murder mystery night here for a work team building event (approx. 20 people). It exceeded all expectations! The setting of the murder mystery was within the old manor house with props to lend to the story line. It really helped with the immersion in the story and the group really got into the characters and story line. The murder mystery was lead by a Mrs Bates who was well able to lead a big group like us while keeping spirits and humour high! People in the group who had done murder mysteries before said that this one was by far the best they had ever gone to. The dinner included in the event was superb, everyone was delighted with the food. Absolutely delicious. After the team building we walked up to the village where there was a local pub where we were able to socialise in afterwards. The accommodation was finished to such a high standard. Great furnishings and super clean. The group was very impressed with the finishes in the converted stables. Breakfast the next morning was highly rated by everyone. Julie was such an easy host to organise with, any ask or alterations to plans we had she accommodated with no hassle. Very welcoming. Overall, had a superb experience and would highly recommend for large groups looking for a group event but also a nice get away for a couple/family as the accommodation and surroundings were fabulous and hosts were just brilliant. Hope to get back again!
